The Catholic Defender: In The Light

Psalms 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path".

How true this is! Jesus is the word made flesh: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,and the Word was God" (John 1:1).

St. John goes on to say, "What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race" (John 1:3).

Jesus said, "I am the light of the worl. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8:12).

This is important. Jesus said, "You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house" (Matthew 5:14-15).

The Catholic Faith is the foundation that the light is given we all share in. The Household of faith "built upon the foundation of the Apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone" (Ephesians 2:20).

The Catholic Church is the Pillar and foundation of truth, St. Paul instructs the Church, "Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for because of these the wrath of God is coming upon the disobedient. So do not be associated with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of the light, for light produces every kind of goodness and righteousness and truth. Try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the fruitless works of darkness; rather expose them, for it is shameful even to mention the things done by them in secret; but everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that becomes visible is light. Therefore, it says: Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light" (Ephesians 5: 6-14).

To be faithful to the Catholic Faith is to live in the light! Jesus is the light of the world. May we rest in this light!

When a sinner converts to the Catholic Faith, or returns to the Faith, the Lord will save the dead person (James 5:19-20).

We are living in a time when there is much darkness and I have know Catholics who have abandoned the Faith for just about everything.

The number one reason is their knowledge, wisdom, and understand is not there.

They are "lukewarm" so they are easily shaken.
