The Catholic Defender at Austin Texas
Look at how scriptural this is! Ephesians 4:1-5 states, "I, then, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have recieved, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another through love, striving to preserve the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace: one body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."
Sunday, February 26, 2012, from the Diocese of Austin, nearly 1,000 Catechumens and Candidates attended the Rite of Election. Matthew 24:31 states, "And he (Jesus) will send out his angels with a trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other". Tonight these people gathered are now part of the "elect"
This is a great example for all of the faithful especially during this time in human history.
With the attack on the family, the loss of faith in this present generation, we need to really get back to the basics.
This needs to begin with our Shepherds , those who are called to lead and guard the flock.
A Catholic owes it to his bishop to be faithful and loyal to the Church. By doing so, we are being faithful and loyal to Christ.
The present day bishops are the successors of the Apostles. Bishop Vasquez presence at this celebration would be like St. Phillip, St. Andrew, or one of the Apostles being there.
That is a most amazing truth. As Catholics, we can be confident that the Lord has blessed all these events throughout the world!
